Day 1 on Skomer Island

Our journey started with a train at 4.25 yesterday afternoon. A forgotten railcard later and we still managed to get on our right train!
After 2 changes and 4hrs 40 minutes on trains we arrived at Milford Haven where 2 dubious chaps helped us carry our extremely heavy stuff.
The joke was on them though as our hotel was up an extremely steep hill!
After ordering a curry it was time to get a good nights sleep after an exhausting day. Surely tomorrow won't be that bad?

Oh how we were wrong.
After carrying our stuff, baring in mind this includes clothes, food and kit for 2 people for a week from the hotel to tesco to get a few last minute things we finally got our taxi to Martins Haven.

As we were early we chilled at the beach for a couple of hours before boarding our boat. That was alright.

We landed at Skomer and we had to climb the biggest, steepest hill ever. I thought my calves were going to explode! After carting our stuff to the farmhouse where we are staying we both just collapsed which exhaustion!

Everyone seems really nice and friendly and we went for a short wander to try and get our barings of the island. It's so peaceful and quiet, well except for the sounds of the birds and the waves.

Stay tuned for day 2 of our adventure to Skomer Island!
